emporal
surfaces are the two smaller constituent parts of the headcloth and are,
as their name indicates it, at the level of the temples. They will miss
always on the first nemes of the Egyptian history (IIIe, IVe and Ve dynasties)
and replaced by a fold, more or less marked according to sovereigns.
They
will appear really only at the beginning of the Middle Kingdom, with first
of all a round form (form (1)), then then, a
right form (form (2)).
Temporal surfaces are composed
of three parts :
- the base (1),
- the higher edge (2),
- the side edge (3).
Majority of nemes of the Egyptian
history presents temporal areas whose higher edge adopts the form (1),
the form (2) being exclusively reserved for the standed statues of the
reign of Amenemhat III and for XIIIe dynasty. According to the reigns
or dynasties, they will be able to adopt very different sizes and widenings
out.
